Originally from Calhoun, Georgia, Ernest has a commercial art, illustration and advertising background.
He specializes in photo restoration and art conservation and maintains an active relationship with many galleries as well as a conservator from England who is based in Atlanta.
Ernest studied formal portraiture with American portrait painter John Howard Sanden. He also studied in Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; and Washington, D.C. to further develop his skills in painting and airbrush illustration and design, color theory, art restoration and conservations as well as photography.
In 1988 he was nominated for the Governor's Art Excellence Award by former mayor of Atlanta, Sam Massell, and was featured Artist of the Year in a one-person show at Dalton College in 1989.
Ernest has completed commissions for clients at Universal Studios, CBS, city governments, corporations, as well as individuals throughout the United States and Europe.
In 2010 Ernest completed an oil painting of The Great Locomotive Chase. Given a grant from The Department of Agriculture Ernest reproduced his painting into an 8' tall by 20' wide mural for a steam locomotive museum in Adairsville, GA.
Since moving to Ocala, Ernest is concentrating on painting and illustrating.
